I have often been asked why I chose to attend Iowa State University. People don't understand why Minnesotans go to Iowa schools because we don't have reciprocity with Iowa. When I first began looking at schools I focused my search in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I visited several schools and it was a difficult decision to decide which schools to apply to. I began applying for schools including University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin La Crosse, St. Cloud State, and University of Minnesota Duluth. It wasn't until viewing the Iowa State University commercials on TV that I considered going to ISU. I figured I had nothing to lose and I might as well visit. I really enjoyed the campus but the price of schooling was a problem. For an out of state student the tuition ended up being around $26,000 a year. I emailed the financial aid office and learned that Iowa State grants several scholarships to out of state students for academic excellence. I applied for admissions into ISU and also received several scholarships. Now I had to make a decision. I got into all the schools I applied for and I narrowed my choices down to three. It was between University of Minnesota Duluth, University of Wisconsin La Crosse, and Iowa State University. After pondering it for many days I decided Iowa State gave me the most opportunities. I don't regret my decision at all and love it here at Iowa State.
